So, everything is moving along really well in Wisewood, Loxley and Wadsley and some of the artworks have begun to be installed.
You'll be able to spot them by all the beautiful wood we've used from the Wisewood trees that had to be removed. We've also branded every piece with 'Grown in Wisewood'.
Signs around Wisewood
These were designed by Fourth Wall Creations, who commissioned Handspring Design and Owen Cunningham to make them. There are 6 in total so have a wander around Wisewood and see if you can spot them.
Archer Gate Park in Loxley
Fourth Wall Creations worked with local residents of Loxley, in particular the Friends of Archer Gate who desperately needed some seating in the park.
The first seat was this stone wall bench, topped with a piece of Wisewood timber. It was made by Carl Glaves, a local resident from Parsonage Walling and Handspring Design.
These wooden storytelling seats were carved by Lorraine Botterill, a local wood carver and are now installed in Archer Gate.
This is another seat carved by Lorraine and is at the top of Archer Gate looking out over beautiful views of the area.
And there's still more to come....
Look out for a noticeboards, three large totem sculptures, some planters and lots of funny animals benches, which you'll be able to see around Wisewood, Wadsley and Loxley from March onwards.

Milling the tree trunks
Using a mobile wood mizer we worked with Hangspring and Underwood tree surgeons to mill the tree trunks from wisewood into thick planks ready to be made into benches, signs and noticeboards.
The trees we were milling London Plane trees and Maples. When cut, the Planes were a beautiful pinky colour and produced some amazing grain patterns (images below).
The trees we left whole will be used to create the sculptures for Wisewood.
