Wood based workshops

Wisewood Methodist Church May Fair

The final wood based workshop we did was with Alice, a professional wood turner who brought along her foot peddle wood lath. We wanted to set up an activity that explored different ways of working with green wood. This was an activity requested from residents on our feedback forms. The workshop was organised as part of the Wisewood Methodist Church May Fair.

The activity was popular with older residents as well as children and as with the carving workshop, it allowed residents to gain an understanding of working with wood as a medium and was great fun.

Wisewood Dreamscheme Activities Day

This workshop followed a simular format as the first wood carving workshop in Loxley (below). The session was part of an activities day orgsansed by the young people involved in Dreamscheme and was situated in Wisewood community college.

Loxley's Archer Gate Park

Using some of the timber from the felled Wisewood trees we ran a wood carving workshop with local Sculptor Lea Nielsen in Archer Gate park for local residents.

As well as learning about wood carving and getting a feel for locally grown timber, we were also gathering ideas and designs for possible uses for the timber in the area.
